Lovely As A Tree

Today I am using what I call the old faithful stamp set – Lovely As A Tree, this set has been around for a long time and has been used for any and all occasions and still works! My card base is Basic Gray 8.5 x 5.5 and then Basic Black 5.25 x 4, and Whisper White 3.75 x 5. To start off I punched out a 1 1/2″ circle on a post a note and positioned my moon, I then took a sponge dauber and Pacific Point ink and sponge all around the moon, when putting ink on your dauber you want to start circling on scrap paper and then come on to your cardstock. That way you dont have circle motion showing up and always start light and just keep adding color to you get to the color you want. Sponging takes a little a practice, you might want to practice on scrap paper before going to your project. It took me 4 tries to get to this point. After I had my sky where I wanted it I then inked up the trees in Basic Black and stamped them. I then went back to the post it notes and tore the edge of one and placed it randomly on my card and with my dauber I took Basic Gray and lightly followed the edge of the paper. I also wanted to make a skyline so I laid the post it note straight across at the trees and sponged. Then I made shadows from the trees by taking my Basic Grey watercolor pencil and made some squiggly lines down from the trees. The Deer are stamped in Soft Suede and the sentiment in Basic Black. Making this card did take some extra time, but what once you got the hang of it with the sponging you could mass produce them and they are very mail worthy. Let me know what you think about sponging.
